A visit to the dentist

The last time I saw a dentist was…5 years ago, or maybe longer. I have extreme fear towards dentists and their equipments. I could cry, even at this age.

It all happened when we were lying on the bed. He suddenly reminded me that I had to go see a dentist. I said I didnt feel like going but he somehow persuaded me to go.

I was pacing around at the clinic and my mind was blank. I was very nervous. I thought I could just faint right there and then. When the nurse asked me to go in, I felt like telling her that I want to cancel my appointment.

The doctor was a thin, old man. He asked me a couple of questions and finally asked me what was my purpose. I told him that I thought my old fillings were thinning and might need to have new ones.

He laid me down and asked me to open my mouth(sounds so wrong!). First thing he said was, “so many stones!”.

I didnt know we had stones on our teeth. I mean, I never thought about that. I told him that I had not seen a dentist for a long, long time.

He started to use this tiny hook to scrap all the stones off. It was painful. Bearable though. I bled so much that when I rinsed my mouth, my blood stained the plastic cup. As the dentist was digging the stones out of my teeth, tiny blood drops were flying everywhere. I had them on my hands, thighs, shirt, and even my phone. I felt like a victim in the movie “The Dentist”.

However, I felt much comfortable after visiting the dentist. The nurse told me to return 6 months later to do the same thing. I think I need to think twice. I am too frightened.

Btw, it cost me RM120. Not cheap but its inevitable, I guess. Dont want to end up toothless. >.<
