Conmen and I
I went to bank on Friday in Damansara uptown. On my way out, a man approached me. Initially I thought he wanted me to donate money to so and so organization because they always come to me when I go to banks in Taipan and I always do donate. However…
Man : Miss arh…yakitty yak…*showing me some kind of brochure*
Me : *keeps quiet, hoping he could finish faster and I donate and go away*
Man : So Ms., do you know Jaya Jusco?
Me : *Realised that this is no donation seeker* Uh..Yea.
Man : Do you shop there? Do you have a credit card?
Me : Uhh..Yea.
Man : You see, our company organized this event where you get to unseal one of this *shows me the brochure again* and you will get the written percentage of discount if you purchase things under the shops which is sponsoring this event.
Me : *I know what was happening. He is a conman!*
Man : *hands me one of the brochure*
Man : If you the “Terima Kasih” means that we thank you for participating loh.
Me : *unsealed the thing and saw a RM1,500,000.00 facing me*
Man : Let me see what you got. *inspects the brochure*
Man : !!!! How can this be happening! *jumps* Gosh! I cant believe this! Ms.!!! You just won RM1,500,000. (it was freaking fake)
Me : *remains expressionless*
At this point, a teenage boy joined in.
Boy : *point at MY brochure* Ms.!!! There are only 20 copies of that in the whole country!!
Me : *looks at boy expressionless*
Boy : you’re so lucky!!!
Me : Then arh, both of you take it lah. *walks away*
Both of them was looking at me with their jaws on the floor.
Wanna con me arh? In my next life lah. I am smarter than I look, okay. They were insulting my inteligence by expecting me to buy their super fake actings. Why was I so sure that they were conmen?
I encountered something similar before at the place I used to stay. I told them
to hold on while I could go and inform my mum that I “won” such a big thing. Then
I went to call the security to come up to my place. When I went back to the door,
they were gone.
As I was driving away, I took a peek from my rear mirror and they were still standing in front of the bank. Anyway, the whole conversation was in Mandarin. I think any company which is big enough to give away 20 copies of RM1,500,000.00 is not willing to employ someone who doesnt know how to speak english to be a salesman. He should have changed the language he was using as I was looking at him expressionless and wasnt saying anything.
Maybe I should not complain so much about it. It could have been worse. I might get robbed or snatched. Its just not safe anymore. *sigh* What happened to the nice and lovely country I once lived in?
